What Causes Headaches?

What causes headaches? Headaches or migraines can be extremely debilitating and can make it difficult to concentrate, work, or focus. Did you know that the misalignment of your neck or spine can be the root cause of these painful headaches? It can also be a result of an improper neck curve. This is because your nervous system resides in your spine and misalignments or abnormal curves can place pressure on your delicate nervous system and thus can cause severe headaches.

Our Modern World – Headaches Solutions

In the past decade, I’ve noticed more and more patients coming to my office that are experiencing headaches resulting from bad posture. The main culprit is our modern life – computers, TV, tablets, smartphones. I’m seeing what I call nursing home posture in much younger people these days. All this stress on the joints of the neck can lead to headaches. We need to find headaches solutions to get past this.

How Do We Diagnose Headaches?

How do we figure out what’s causing your headaches? Before we can successfully treat a headache, we need to be able to identify the root cause of your pain. After a thorough consultation where you describe the nature of your headaches to us, I will typically perform a posture evaluation and a thorough exam of your spine – with particular focus on your neck. If I determine that your headache is something I can help, we will take a specific type of x-ray, called a digital motion study, to more accurately pinpoint the underlying cause.

What are Our Headaches Solutions?

Now, based on the results of the consult, exam, and x-rays I’ll be able to determine if this is the right office to fix your headaches. If so, I’ll develop a proper treatment plan to fix your headaches. Because there are so many things that can cause headaches, the treatments can vary widely.
The two things that we will almost always do is: One- specific chiropractic adjustments to get pressure off of any compressed nerves and Two – specific remodeling techniques to restore your spine alignment to as close to ideal as possible.
